Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrive Frankfurt

Welcome to the Rhine and Moselle Wines tour! The first day of your trip will take you to the southwestern region of the country. On the way to Rudesheim, you will see the growing grape vines on the slopes of the Rhine. Visit the wine museum, where you can taste delicious regional wines (optional). Then enjoy a delicious and filling lunch of food typical for the region. In Rüdesheim, enjoy a panoramic walk through the old city and the famous and narrow Drosselgasse. Overnight in Rudesheim. (L)

Day 2 | Rudesheim - St. Goar - Koblenz

In the morning, discover the beautiful region of the Rhine with its vineyards, rivers and castles, on a beautiful boat trip to St. Goar. This is the most picturesque stretch of the River Rhine, known as the Loreley Valley, full of ancient forts and castles, and known for its great views. The boat trip continues to the ancient Roman city of Koblenz, waiting for you to explore. Overnight in Koblenz. (B)

Day 3 | Koblenz - Trier

After breakfast today, walk through the villages along the valley of the river Moselle. This region is famous for its vineyards. In Cochem, visit the famous Castle "Burg Eltz," a beautiful fairytale structure. The next part of the trip will be taken by boat, sailing along the Moselle River to Bernkastel-Kues, a beautiful and romantic city on the banks of the river. Continue on to Trier, an old Roman village, with more than two thousand years of history. At the end of the day, enjoy a wine tasting in Trier. Overnight in Trier. (B)

Day 4 | Bockenheim - Bad Dürkheim

This morning, discover the various old buildings of the city of Trier and take in the sights. Then, the journey continues towards the famous "Weinstraße" (wine route). The first stop will be in Bockenheim, known for its Grape Madonna "Traubenmadonna." Then the trip continues to Bad Dürkheim, where the largest barrel in the world, with a volume of 1.7 million liters, is located. A unique sight to see! At night, a delicious 3-course meal awaits you inside this giant barrel. Overnight in Bad Dürkheim. (B, D)

Day 5 | Bad Dürkheim - German Wine Route - Bad Dürkheim

Today you will visit the famous German wine route. Travel along narrow roads in small wine-growing villages and curved up vineyards, and take in the impressive views. It is possible to stop in each village for a wine tasting, in the various vinicolas along the way. Then you will pass through Neustadt, Wachenheim, Edenkoben, until arriving at Schweigen-Rechtenbach, which is the gateway to the German wine route. Overnight in Bad Dürkheim. (B)

Day 6 | Bad Dürkheim - Heidelberg

In the morning, travel to Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university city. It is one of the most visited places in the country because of its idyllic location on the banks of the Neckar. First visit its famous castle, and then enjoy a wine tasting in the vinoteca. Then, visit the charming old town and discover its various landmarks. Overnight in Heidelberg. (B)

Day 7 | Heidelberg - Frankfurt.

On this day, return to Frankfurt. On the way, tour through Worms, known as "the city of Nibelungs." Along with the cathedrals of Speyer and Mainz, the cathedral of Worms is one of the most wonderful creations of Romanesque Churches. After a panoramic tour of the city, the trip ends in Frankfurt. Note: This tour is designed for the independent traveler that wants private touring and transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to airport and from city to city. There is free time (as noted on the itinerary) as well as private touring as noted. This is designed for parties of 2-6. If you have a party larger than 6 passengers, please let Celtic Tours know and we will provide a quote per your request. Transfer on day 7 from Frankfurt to Airport can be arranged at time of booking but is not included in your package. Additional nights in Frankfurt can also be arranged. Please let us know at time of booking what additional services are desired.

Pricing

Your tour land price is per person based on two (2) people sharing a twin or double room. When a single room is booked, a single supplement will apply. This is a private tour offered online from 2-6 passengers. For larger parties, please call 800-833-4373 or email reservations at reservations@celtictours.com. Note, the price listed is based on 2 passengers sharing a twin/double room. When more passengers are booked the rate will DECREASE based on the number of passengers traveling.

Airfare

At this time (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) Celtic Tours is unable to offer individual airfare. Please contact airlines directly to book your airfare in conjunction with this tour.

Departures & Transfers

Tour date is the date the tour begins in Frankfurt. Please book your air one day prior to allow for overnight flights.

Note: if tour participants drop to 7 or fewer, there will be no tour host and it is escorted by a driver/guide only. Vehicle will be sized based on tour participants.
