Day 01, Connemara

Check-in is 20 minutes prior to train departure time at the customer service desk at Heuston Station where our check-in representative will be in their yellow jacket!

Check-in for 7:35 am departure from Dublin Heuston, opened in 1844 as the headquarters of the Great Southern & Western Railway and is now the official principal station of Iarnród Éireann, Ireland’s national railway company. As your train departs, we travel in a south westerly direction, through Dublin's western suburbs and then through the lush fertile countryside of Co. Kildare. Our journey takes us through the Curragh which is famous for its racecourse, home of the Irish Derby, and there are many stud farms in the vicinity. Your route takes you into the midlands and the Bog of Allen, vast tracts of peat-land. Before then we pass through the County Town of Tullamore and then to Clara across the gentle farmlands of north Offaly. The train crosses the Shannon marks the historic border between the province of Leinster and Connacht – the historic province of the West of Ireland. You are now heading due west, surrounded by peat bog on both sides of the line. On the last few kilometers before Galway, you will get your first glimpse of Galway Bay.

Arrive Galway we transfer to our waiting coach and strike out along the shore of Galway Bay and into the magnificent scenery of this region known as Connemara. Our lunch stop is in the pretty little fishing village of Roundstone with its fabulous views over the bay to the Twelve Bens mountain range. Our next stop is at unique Coral beach on this wild Atlantic Coast. We see the bogs where Alcock & Brown crash landed in 1919 after the first ever Transatlantic Flight. We arrive in Clifden, view the spectacular Sky Road. Overnight Stay: Clifden Town Center.

Day 02, The Twelve Bens - Connemara

Enjoy a Full Irish Breakfast at your leisure. 3:00 pm Depart Clifden where you will be picked up from your hotel and continue our tour to Connemara. We experience beautiful mountain scenery though Letterfrack and pass by Kylemore Abbey and lakes. We take the Inagh Valley with the Twelve Bens on one side and the Maamturks on the other. Thru' Recess and enjoy lovely views all the way back to Galway. After your day's touring you will be returned to Galway Station to return to Dublin. Returning to Dublin Heuston at 9:45 pm.
