Day 01, Saturday: U.S. - Frankfurt

Depart U.S. for your overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany. Dinner will be served on board. Tours purchased on a land only basis begin on Day 02.

Day 02, Sunday: Arrive Frankfurt

Arrival at Frankfurt airport and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend at your leisure. Frankfurt is the financial and commercial heart of Germany, a city full of fascinating contrasts between modern development and historic landmarks. At 7:00 pm you will meet your guide at the welcome dinner at the hotel. Accommodation at the Hotel Mövenpick Frankfurt City.

Day 03, Monday: Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Black Forest

In the morning we travel from Frankfurt to Heidelberg. Visit the famous castle ascending with the cable car and enjoy a sightseeing tour of its historic city center. Idyllically located on the shores of the Neckar River, Heidelberg is Germany's oldest university town and one of the most popular destinations in the country. We continue to the famous Black Forest region. This night we will have an authentic experience: Enjoy a typical Black Forest dinner and overnight in a romantically located hotel. If you like have a little walk to the beautiful Ravenna Gorge or see the region's oldest chapel, both are next to the hotel. Accommodation at the Best Western Hotel Hofgut Sternen.

Day 04, Tuesday: Black Forest - Lake Titisee - Lindau - Füssen

After breakfast we enjoy a short presentation on the cuckoo clock production. We continue to a small traditional Black Forest farm where we will have a cheese tasting and you will see the true life of the Black Forest. After we will travel to Lake Titisee, nestled in the legendary Black Forest. We continue the tour to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which boasts spectacular views of the Alps. Depending on weather conditions we will take the Alpine road from Lindau to Oberstaufen and Immenstadt to our final destination Füssen, the southernmost point on our tour of Romantic Germany. Accommodation at the Hotel Hirsch.

Day 05, Wednesday: Neuschwanstein - Wieskirche - Oberammergau - Linderhof

We begin the day with a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle, built by Ludwig II, the notorious “Mad King“. In the midday we travel to Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play and lovely crafts. Along the way we visit the Wieskirche Church before continuing the tour to visit Linderhof Castle. This is one of the 3 castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one where the king actually lived for a significant amount of time. After a brief stop at the Ettal Benedictine Abbey. Today‘s final destination is Innsbruck. Accommodation at the hotel Grauer Bär.

Day 06, Thursday: Innsbruck - Munich

In the morning we enjoy a sightseeing tour of Innsbruck, Austria, located in the Inn valley, in the heart of the Alps. As an alternative excursion you may also ascend to the top of Zugspitze (instead of Innsbruck, not included). In the afternoon we travel to Munich. Accommodation at the Holiday Inn Munich City Center.

Day 07, Friday: Munich

After breakfast we visit the city's main attractions, concluding the tour at the Marienplatz square with its famous clock tower. The capital of Bavaria state, Munich, is famous for its Oktoberfest, which is annually celebrated in September. The afternoon is free to explore at your leisure. In the evening you enjoy a traditional Bavarian dinner. Accommodation at the Holiday Inn Munich City Center.

Day 08, Saturday: Munich - Zurich

Breakfast at the hotel. Around noon transfer to the train station. Travel by train from Munich to Zurich. Upon arrival in Zurich transfer to your hotel. Accommodation at the Hotel Swissôtel Zürich.

Day 09, Sunday: Zurich

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Zurich and its main monuments. Take in fabulous views of the Alps and Lake Zurich from the Höhenstrasse. We will stop briefly in Rapperswil, the quaint City of Roses. On our way back to Zurich you enjoy a lovely cruise on Lake Zurich (no guide). Arrival at Zürich-Bürkliplatz. Make your own way back to the hotel. Accommodation at the Hotel Swissôtel Zürich.

Day 10, Monday: Zurich - Luzern - Mount Titlis - Interlaken

Departure for Luzern. Short sightseeing tour and free time to explore on your own. At noon we continue to Engelberg. Take the rotating Rotair cable car to the top of Mount Titlis and its spectacular glacier (note: during peak season long wait times may be experienced). From an elevation of 3.020 m, visitors enjoy spectacular views of the Central Alps. In the afternoon we continue to Brienz and visit the local wood carvers. Our next destination is Interlaken at the foot of Mount Jungfrau. Accommodation at the Hotel Interlaken.

Day 11, Tuesday: Interlaken - Bern - Gruyeres - Geneva

From Interlaken we drive along Lake Thun to Bern. After a sightseeing tour of the city, we continue to Gruyeres, a picturesque village with its impressive medieval castle. Accommodation at the Hotel Ramada Encore.

Day 12, Wednesday: Geneva - Montreux - Zermatt

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Geneva and visit the beautiful parks along the lake, the cathedral and the European headquarters of the UN. Then we travel to Lausanne and Montreux, passing the magnificent Chillon Castle. Free time to explore Montreux. In the afternoon we travel up the Rodano river valley as far as Täsch. From here you continue by narrow gauge train to Zermatt, nestled at the foot of mighty Mount Matterhorn. Dinner and accommodation at the Hotel Alex.

Day 13, Thursday: Zermatt - Nufenen Pass - Lugano

In the morning you are free to explore at your leisure or undertake an optional excursion to the top of Mount Gornegrat (not included). In the afternoon you return to Täsch where you board the bus for a spectacular drive over the high Nufenen mountain pass to Lugano. Overnight Grand Hotel Eden.

Day 14, Friday: Lugano - Lake Como - St. Moritz

In the morning we travel to Italy to visit magnificent Lake Como. Travel along the shore of the lake via Menaggio to Chiavenna in the Beggaglia valley. In Castasegna we cross back into Switzerland and complete today's tour in the ski resort of St. Moritz. Dinner and accommodation at the Hotel Schweizerhof.

Day 15, Satruday: St. Moritz - Vaduz - Zurich

In the morning we travel via Fluela and Davos to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. Free time to explore this charming city. In the afternoon we continue to Zurich via the Toggenburg region, famous for its picturesque houses. Arrival at Zurich Swissôtel around 5:00 pm. End of tour program. Overnight at Swissôtel Zurich.

Day 16, Sunday: Zurich - U.S.

After breakfast, make your way to the airport for your return flight home.

Post night hotel is at the Swissôtel Zurich. Transfer to the airport on day 16 is not included in package. Celtic Tours would be delighted to arrange this transfer for an additional fee.
