Itinerary

DAY 1 | Catania

Welcome to Italy! Enjoy a private transfer from Catania airport to the hotel. Enjoy welcome drinks and a delicious dinner at the hotel and sleep overnight in Catania.

DAY 2 | Catania - Syracuse - Catania

After a buffet breakfast, depart to Syracuse, and visit the World Heritage Site "Neapolis." This archaeological area includes the famous Greek theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomie of Paradise and the "Dionysius Ear." Continue to the island of Ortigia, the small baroque old city center of Syracuse, and enjoy free time for lunch. In the afternoon visit the beautiful Cathedral, which is built upon the site of the Doric Temple of Minerva, the legendary Arethusa's Fountain and the Temple of Apollo. Feel free to stroll through the streets and take in the sights, then return to your hotel in Catania. Free evening at your disposal to experience the city and its nightlife and to dine in one of the restaurants in the city center. Overnight in Catania.

DAY 3 | Catania Fish Market - Ragusa Cheese Tasting

After a buffet breakfast, enjoy a walking tour of Catania. Stroll through the city center with your professional guide and visit the famous fish market "A PISCARIA," one of the largest fish markets in Sicily. As old as the city itself, this market is the perfect way to explore the abundant fishing and seafood culture of Sicily. Here you will have the chance to taste the delights of typical Catanian street food while taking in the sights.

Travel on to Ragusa and visit the enchanting historical center "Ibla", with its stunning baroque palaces and churches. Ragusa is a listed UNESCO World Heritage site alongside seven other cities in the Val di Noto. Ragusa is also renowned for its cheese production, which you will come to find when tasting its artisanal cheeses! Afterwards continue on to the reserved hotel where you can relax at the swimming pool or take a soak at the Spa. Enjoy dinner in the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 4 | Ragusa - Agrigento - Marsala

After breakfast, travel to Agrigento, a hillside town famous for its magnificent Valley of the Temples, including the Temple of Concordia, which is almost perfectly preserved, as well as the temples of Juno and Heracles. Enjoy free time to find lunch. In the afternoon, proceed to Marsala, a city on the western coast famous for its production of sweet Sicilian wine. Arrive at Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo Resort and tour the resort's extensive wineries, starting from the vineyards, where the whole wine-making process begins.

Explore the historic courtyard and the Palmento Room, where grapes prepared before being transferred to barrels. Visit the Ageing Cellar, a room with a fascinating atmosphere and a sense of living history. Taste 3 different fine wines, and then settle in for some free time to relax at the swimming pool or to enjoy magic moments at sunset in your hotel. In the evening, reach Marsala city center and explore the historical center on your own. Return to the hotel and settle in for overnight rest.

DAY 5 | Marsala - Salt Route - Erice - Palermo

After breakfast, journey to Erice via the spectacular "Salt Route," a road flanked by the salt pans, windmills, and "salt houses," where salt is still extracted in the same way as in the days of the Phoenicians. Arrive in Erice, located on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Trapani and the Egadi Islands. Walk through its tiny and charming streets, take in the winding lanes and inner courtyards, then stop for a marzipan and biscuit tasting! Free time for lunch and then continue to Palermo, the capital of Sicily. Visit the Cathedral of Palermo, one of its most important architectural monuments, and then walk along Corso Vittorio Emanuele to reach "I Quattro Canti di Città" Piazza Pretoria, Piazza Bellini, where you will visit the Martorana Church, renowned for its beauty.

Afterwards, encounter one of the most famous and historical markets of Palermo and experience the spirit of authenticity of this wonderful and colorful city. End the tour with a taste of Palermo's delicious street food, among some of the best in the world! Enjoy hotel accommodations in town and plenty of free time for shopping and dinner. Overnight in the hotel.

DAY 6 | Palermo - Monreale - Cefalù - Messina - Taormina

After breakfast visit the town of Monreale, situated on a hill at few kms far from Palermo to enjoy its panoramic views. Visit its Cathedral, one of the most beautiful monuments in the world rife with Moorish architecture, and housing precious mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments in Arab-Norman style. Continue to Cefalù, a former fishing village, and now a charming and refreshing coastal town. Enjoy a walk to the city center and travel down main street to reach the Arab-Norman Cathedral and the medieval wash-house. Free time to explore the town and shop,and enjoy lunch on your own. Afterwards, proceed to Taormina through the coastal road passing through Messina, where you'll have the chance to admire the seductive scenery of the Strait of Messina. Free time for dinner and overnight in a hotel.

DAY 7 | Taormina - Mount Etna and Wine Tasting - Taormina

Enjoy an excursion to Mount Etna after breakfast! It is the most active Volcano in Europe, and a sight to behold. Weather conditions permitting, cross fascinating landscapes with various kinds of vegetation, a mixture of citrus groves, vineyards and fruit trees. Scale to heights of 1800 metres to visit the Sylvester Craters and enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Ionian Sea. Then, stop at a local vineyard on the eastern slopes of Etna and visit a prestigious wine cellar! Here you will have the opportunity to taste different local wines accompanied by delicious local cheese and cold cuts sure to leave you stunned. In the afternoon, return to Taormina, often called "the pearl of the Ionian Sea," and enjoy leisure time for shopping or strolling through its tiny, beautiful streets. Possibility of visiting the Greek-Roman Theatre on your own (Ticket €.12,00 p.p.), with its spectacular view of Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna. Free time for dinner and overnight in hotel.

DAY 8 | Taormina - Catania

After breakfast in the hotel, depart to Catania airport and prepare to return home.

Tour Date & Transfers

Tour dates are the date you would arrive in Catania. Please plan your air accordingly, as most flights overseas are overnight flights and you would depart the US one day earlier. If you book your airfare separately, please provide us with your flight details.

If the number of tour participants does not reach the minimum of 9 passengers, we will guarantee travel with a minivan, english speaking driver, and locan guide services wherever necessary, reserving the right to make changes to the travel program with 30 days' notice preceding the departure date.
