Itinerary
Day 1 | Edinburgh
Arrive Edinburgh and transfer (included) to your pre-booked accommodations (note: check-in time is generally from 2 pm). Spend your day independently exploring Edinburgh on your own. Overnight in Edinburgh.
Day 2 | Inverness
You leave Edinburgh and head north across the River Forth towards the Highlands. (Please note the departure time on your voucher with your documents).
The first stop is in Pitlochry, a quintessential Scottish town nestled among the hills of Perthshire. Get some coffee and find out why Queen Victoria loved this place before you cross into the Cairngorms National Park.
This wild heart of the Highlands teems with mountains, rivers, lochs, and wildlife hotspots and is a magnet for all nature lovers. We head to Aviemore, a bustling hub for all outdoor activities, where you can try local specialties before you travel to Loch Morlich, which is as unique as it is bonnie.
Leave the majestic mountains and step back in time at Clava Cairns near Inverness. These ancient standing stones and ring cairns are as beautiful as they are mysterious and were made famous by Diana Gabaldon in the Outlander books.
Then it’s just a short drive to Inverness, where you’re dropped off at your accommodation.
The evening is free for you to explore the Capital of the Highlands.
Day 3 | Edinburgh
After a leisurely breakfast, you’re picked up from your accommodation and taken into the surrounding countryside. You travel to the mysterious Loch Ness where you have the chance to take a boat trip along the loch and visit dramatic Urquhart Castle.*
Our journey continues south through the Great Glen past Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK and Fort William. You stop for lunch along the way before arriving in Glencoe. This beautiful area boasts steep slopes and photogenic peaks. And it’s one of the most famous natural landmarks in all of Scotland. Your driver-guide may reveal to you the tragic tale that’s haunted this valley for over 300 years.
The return journey continues over the wild and remote Rannoch Moor and into the Lowland scenery around Stirling, before finally reaching our starting point of Edinburgh, approximately 7 pm. From here, you will make your own way back to your pre-booked hotel.
*The Loch Ness boat cruise is weather dependent and may be canceled without notice (it is closed for winter from 8 Jan-14 Jan 2024)
Day 4 | Edinburgh - Home
After breakfast, transfer from your hotel to the Airport for your return flight to the US.

Your tour land price is per person based on two (2) people sharing a twin or double room. When a single room is booked, a single supplement will apply. There are no triple rooms for this tour.

Airfare
Unfortunately, due to the 2020 pandemic, Celtic Tours will only be offering airfare for groups sizes of 15 or more. Individuals should book directly with airlines. Please make sure you book your flight to arrive and depart on accurate dates. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Departures & Transfers
Departure date is the date the tour starts in Edinburgh. Please book your air one day before to accommodate overnight flights.

Although our UK tours are guaranteed with a minimum of 2 passengers, it does not mean a date is guaranteed until we check with the Edinburgh office. Although we get regular updates, a tour can sell out and we may not yet have it noted above. We must first advise of a guarantee before airfare is booked and ticketed. Thank you.
