Itinerary

Day 01, Thursday: U.S. to Rome

Overnight flight to Rome, Italy. Celtic Tours World Vacations will be delighted to book your air in conjunction with your tour, or purchase this tour on a land only basis, where your tour would begin on day 02, in Rome.

Day 02, Friday: Arrival

Welcome to Italy! Meet your Tour Leader and your travel companion at the Bar of the hotel. At the end, walk to the restaurant and enjoy a tasty welcome dinner. Overnight in Rome.

Day 03, Saturday: Heart of Rome & Vatican

Meet your assistant in the lobby and walk to Piazza Navona, where you will start your exploration of the heart of Rome: Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and the Baroque quarter. Free time for lunch and relax. Then transfer to the Vatican for a guided visit. Optional: Tonight, experience the real Roman food! Meet your tour leader and enjoy a relaxed walking along the narrow streets of ancient Rome. End the tour at your restaurant for a tasty Roman Dinner. Overnight in Rome.

Day 04, Sunday: Siena

Meet your tour guide at hotel in Rome and transfer to Florence by private coach. The drive itself is a magnificent path along the roads of Tuscany, where it is possible to enjoy the view of hills covered by vineyards, olives tree, small villages and original bell towers. En route stop in Siena, probably Italy's loveliest medieval city. The town offers magnificent masterpieces and incredible views. Upon arrival, enjoy a “farmer lunch”: Original Tuscan Food: wine tasting with cheese and salami. After lunch, free time to explore the city. At the end, continue to your final destination. Before arrival, stop in a vineyard in Chianti for a wine tasting. Late afternoon arrival in Florence. Free time for dinner. Overnight in Florence.

Day 05, Monday: Optional Tours

The day is free at leisure. There are many optional tours available. Overnight in Florence.

Day 06, Tuesday: Florence

Start your exploration of Florence from the unknown and most picturesque sides of the city: visit the fresh market of San Lorenzo where is possible to find the food arriving fresh every day from Tuscan Countryside. It’s will be a great opportunity to taste many varieties of cheese, fruits and vegetable, breads. Free time for lunch. Meet your guide in the hotel to explore the heart of the town. Lorenzo de Medici transformed Florence into the cradle of the Renaissance by attracting the best artists, architects and writers of the time such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli to whom he commissioned various works. Visit Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio (from outside), the Dome with Giotto's bell tower (from outside), Ponte Vecchio. Finally, visit the Accademia and see the masterpiece of Michelangelo: the statue of David. Tuscan Dinner with a sunset walking. This moment of the day is spectacular and the great to shoot your photos. Overnight in Florence.

Day 07, Wednesday: Cinqueterre

Begin your 3-night private post-tour to Cinqueterre & Piedmont (from this moment, the tour continues on private basis, without tour escort. The tours included are private). After breakfast, meet your driver guide and continue to Cinqueterre. Upon arrival, start your exploration of the villages by boat. Cinqueterre is the name of a district that encompasses five glorious towns, where small houses are surrounded by lush nature. Visitors are fascinated by the beauty of these five small villages, namely: Manarola, Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare. The inhabitants of Cinque Terre benefit not only from its pristine waters, but from its natural environment, where wild nature is interspersed with vineyards, olive groves and citrus orchards, creating a precious bond between man, his traditions and this breathtaking stretch of coast. At the end, continue to Genoa, a magnificent city, where you will overnight.

Day 08, Thursday: Vergne, La Morra & Alba

Meet your driver guide and transfer to Barolo region. “Even in the midst of summer, the idyllic vineyard landscapes of Piedmont are rarely invaded by crowds of tourists, and the run-up to the grape harvests, beginning in September, can be an ideal time to visit wine makers, who have more time than usual to let visitors taste their vintages. Great wines are made all over the region, but the key area, just an hour’s drive from Turin, is the Langhe and Roero, separated by the winding Tanaro river.” (The Guardian). Visit La Morra, Vergne and the magnificent village of Alba, the capital of Barolo region. Enjoy a great lunch and a wine tasting. Overnight in Asti.

Day 09, Friday: Asti Food & Wine Discovery

Discover Asti as a foodie. Walking through the city center, you will enjoy historic sites and at least three stops in traditional shops, food carts and produce markets (depending on availability) to taste some of the best local specialties: different kinds of cheese and salami, artisan breadsticks, hazelnut pralines and some wine. Overnight in Asti.

Day 10, Saturday: Departure

Independent departure.

Pricing

Your tour land price is per person based on two (2) people sharing a twin or double room. When a single room is booked, a single supplement will apply. Triple rooms offer discounts.

Airfare is additional. Once you select your date, you will be given the opportunity to search our system for the best available airfare from your home city. The dates shown will be the start / end date of your tour. However, you can alter these dates to arrive earlier or extend your stay as needed.
