Itinerary

Day 01, Monday: U.S. to Ireland. Depart U.S. for your overnight flight to Ireland. Dinner is served on board.

Day 02, Tuesday: Shannon. Morning arrival at Shannon Airport. Having cleared Irish customs we are greeted by our Celtic Tours driver/guide. Transfers from Shannon Airport to our Limerick hotel where we have free time to rest. Afternoon departure for a panoramic local tour of Limerick that shows us King John's Castle, the Treaty Stone and St. John's Cathedral. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 03, Wednesday: Limerick - Adare - Foynes - Listowel - Killarney. Leaving Limerick City we travel the short distance to the old world village of Adare, after a brief stop for banking or photographs we continue on to Foynes, located on the River Shannon. We enjoy a visit to Foynes and the Flying Boat Museum and the Boeing 314 “Yankee Clipper.” Irish coffee was first introduced here in 1942. We continue our journey along the scenic Shannon waterway via Glin and Listowel, birthplace of the late Irish play write John B. Keene. Onward to Killarney for dinner and overnight.

Day 04, Thursday: Killarney - Dingle Peninsula. Enjoy the scenic beauty for which this region is renowned and made famous by such movies as “Ryan's Daughter” and “Far & Away.” See the long, sandy stretches of Inch Strand and admire views across the bay to the Iveragh Peninsula. See beehive huts where early Christian monks lived and visit Gallarus Oratory, dating from the 8th century. Enjoy dinner at our hotel tonight. Overnight in Killarney.

Day 05, Friday: Killarney - Ring of Kerry. Today, we depart on one of Ireland's most popular and beautiful drives, the Ring of Kerry. Traveling from Killarney we come to the town of Killorglin, famous for “Puck Fair,” and from here we commence the ring tour. Our drive is along the coastline of the broad Iveragh Peninsula, through the towns of Glenbeigh, Cahirciveen, Waterville and Sneem. The scenery is spectacular as wind-swept cliffs, still lakes, lost valleys and rocky mountains blend in awesome beauty. As one looks around it is easy to agree with the old Irish saying, “Even if a man has only a small bit of earth here, he has a lot of the heavens.” From Sneem, we continue via “Ladies View” back to Killarney. Dinner and overnight at our Killarney hotel.

Day 06, Saturday: Killarney - Cork - Cobh - Blarney. Morning departure from Killarney we travel to Cork City and enjoy a panoramic tour of Cork, which shows us the famous Shandon Bells. Continue on to nearby Cobh Heritage Center, which documents the history of Irish emigration and the story of the ill-fated superliners—the Lusitania and the Belfast-built Titanic. Cobh was the last port of call for the Titanic, before she crossed the Atlantic. Departing Cobh we travel to Blarney just outside Cork City. Optional visit to Blarney Woollen Mills, Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone. Dinner and overnight in Blarney.

Day 07, Sunday: Blarney - Cahir - Tipperary - Killaloe. A leisurely morning departure from Blarney. We travel via Fermoy which sits on both banks of the River Blackwater, which attracts fishermen from around Ireland. Continue on via Mitchestown, noted for its dairy products, to Cahir and a photo-op at the 11 to 15th Century Cahir Castle. We turn west to Tipperary Town and Killaloe, situated overlooking Lough Derg and the Shannon River. Dinner and overnight.

Day 08, Monday: Shannon - U.S. After breakfast, transfer to nearby Shannon Airport where the tours ends. Ample time allowed for duty free shopping before boarding our flight home. Arrive home the same day.
