 Celtic Tours World Vacations
is pleased to announce their 2010 "Springtime Tuscany" program.
Tuscany enchants us today with because it holds a special
link between traditions of the past and new traditions. For living proof, take a
short walk from Villa
Casagrande, a wine producing villa constructed in 1392, which will
serve as your host for five nights. You will leave behind the traffic and
suddenly find yourself strolling down quiet lanes bounded by tall stone walls,
cypress trees and creamy colored villas. You could be anywhere in Tuscany, and
we dare you not to fantasize about living there.
Your Villa is located in Figline Valdarno, a medieval
village of the 12th century is located in the middle of the triangle made up of
Siena, Arezzo and Florence. Enjoy local delicacies and the Tuscan
lifestyle.
Five nights at the Villa Casagrande, with breakfast,
transfers and porterage included.

| Tuscan Harvest Option: Day Tour of Florence |
Day #3 |
|
After breakfast at the Villa, we journey to Florence. Transfer by bus from
the Villa to Florence city center.
Meet your step on guide and enjoy a
morning walking guided tour of the city Stroll down cobblestone lanes, through
majestic squares and across ancient bridges, pausing along the way to visit and
learn about Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the cathedral and Giotto's
bell tower and the Accademia. Florence offers the largest number of historical
buildings and works of art in Italy, as well as several world-class museums.
Lunch free and afternoon on your own: You might like to do a little
leather, gold or clothing shopping near Ponte Vecchio. Late in the
afternoon transfer back to the Villa.

|
| Tuscan Harvest Option: Day Trip to Bologna |
Day #4 |
|
Bologna is the capital of this prosperous region of Italy: Emilia Romagna.
Not yet contaminated by mass tourism, the city is the ideal choice for cultural
interludes as well as leisure activities and relaxation. Bologna has a
number of nicknames: la dotta (the learned) for its ancient university, la rossa
(the red) for the warm colour of its roofs and houses, and la grassa (the fat)
for the wonderful food. Approximately 10.00 am - we will enjoy a morning
guided tour of the city, including such landmarks as Piazza Maggiore, Fountain
of Neptune and the Two Towers.
Afternoon on your own for shopping or
sightseeing. 6.00 pm - depart by bus from Rome to return to our Villa
Casagrande.
(date of operation may vary by departure.)
|
| Tuscan Harvest Option: Siena & San Gimignano |
Day #5 |
|
After breakfast at the hotel - depart to Siena, where after meeting our local
guide, we have the possibility to visit this wonderful city. Siena is the city
of the blessed Virgins and the “Balzana”, black and white; decisive, just as its
heraldic symbol; passionate and contemplative; always climbing and descending;
clear and at the same time obscure; steep and narrow streets; the red of the
Piazza del Campo appearing blinding and suddenly. In the alleys, in the museums
and oratories of the Contrada, the spiritual songs of the Palio evoke very
ancient rituals and modern allegories, while during the evening the shuffling of
soles on the deserted pavement is in contrast with the peacefulness of the green
valleys providentially enclosed within the wall, which ancient administrators
had erected hundreds of years before it became common practice.
Stop for
a visit and wine tasting at a local farm.
After lunch on your own, depart
to San Gimignano (Half-Day Guide). The towered silhouette of san Gimignano
rising from the hills of the Upper Elsa Valley, facing the land of Volterra and
positioned right on one of the most important stretches of the medieval Via
Francigena, is famous all over the world. A similar renown can also be claimed
by its Vernaccia wine, recently awarded the D.O.C.G., the highest
acknowledgement and guarantee for quality in Italian oenology. Return in the
evening at your hotel in Florence area.
(date of operation may vary by departure.)
