Day 01, Saturday: U.S. -
Rome. Depart U.S. for our overnight flight to Rome, Italy. Dinner will
be served on board.
Day 02, Sunday: Arrive Rome.
Morning arrival into Rome, where you are met with a private transfer
to your Rome hotel. An independent day in Rome to enjoy the Eternal City. Your
Rome stay is based on the Hotel
Windrose (subject to availability). Other hotels may be booked at a
Day 03, Monday: Rome to Tuscany. After
breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your driver and depart by car or
minibus* to Florence. En-route, we reach the hilltop town of Montepulciano, an
ancient village full of medieval and renaissance buildings. Montepulciano is
famous for one of the oldest wines in Italy, "Nobile" of Montepulciano. We
stop for a visit to a wine cellar, tasting wines and local products like ham,
cheese and salami. We proceed to Pienze, the renaissance town, built by Pope
Pius II, well known for it's pecorino (sheep) cheese. We continue to our
Tuscan villa; theVilla Casagrande, where we will enjoy a 5-night

dinner featuring local wines and traditional Tuscan fare. Buon Appetito!! Over
at the villa.Day 04, Tuesday: A day in Florence. After
breakfast at the villa, we journey to Florence for a moringin guided walking
tour. Stroll down the cobblestone lanes, through majestic squares and across
ancient bridges, pausing along the way to visit and learn about Palazzo
Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the cathedral and Giotto's Bell Tower and the
Accedemia (entrance fees and reservations included). Florence offers the
largest number of historical buildings and workds of art in Italy, as well as
several world clas smuseums. Durring the afternoon, you are free to enjoy the
city. Perhaps shop for leather, gold and clothing near the Ponte Vecchio. We
return to the Villa, where dinner is on our own this evening. Overnight at the
Day 05, Wednesday: Free day at
the Villa. After breakfast, you are free to enjoy the Villa and
local town on your own, at your own pace. Perhaps
rent bikes, take a walk into town or visit the cellar and the museum of the
Villa which has been host to Popes and Princes.
This afternoon, you may wish to take part in an Optional 3-hour
cooking class, where you will learn the basics of traditional Tuscan cooking
as well as savor the foods prepared by you (a minimum of 2 participants is
required for this class).
Day 06, Thursday: Chianti Tour.
After breakfast at the Villa, we enjoy a full day Chianti Tour! Meet
your local guide and depart to Castellina in Chianti, which stands on the
border line between Florentine and Senese Chianti. It has Etruscan roots and
always played an important role in the fights between Florence and Siena. The
majestic fortress and massive walls prove this glorious past. We continue to
Greve in Chianti and stop tat Antica Macelleria Falorni to visit this historic
butcher and taste the original Tuscan salami. Enjoy the visit in Greve,
Chianti, where the great explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano was born, as
celebrated by his statue in the main square. Independently, enjoy Piazza
Matteotti with excellent restaurants and shops or the Church of Santa Croce
keeps important artworks by Florentine artists such as Andrea Della Robbia and
deserved a visit. We continue with a stop at the wonderful Castle of
Verrazzano for a visit and wine tasting, before returning to the Villa, with
dinner on our own this evening.
Day 07, Friday: Tour of Siena & San Gimignano:
Breakfast at the hotel before we depart for Siena, for a
half day guided tour of this unique citywith the Piazza del Campo, the commanding Duomo,
surrounded by narrow streets and alleys. Enjoy sweet-smelling trattorias, the sounds of the artisans and
spouting fountains; Fontebrande and the mystery of the Diana, a famous river
underneath Siena. After lunch on your own, we depart Siena for San Gimignano and
stop for a visit and wine tasting at a local farm. Free time in San Gimignano,
with its towered silhouette rising from the hills of the Upper Elsa Valley,
facing the land of Volterra and positioned right on one of the most important
stretches of the medieval Via Francigena. We return in the evening to
enjoy a festive "Farewell Dinner" at the
Day 08, Saturday: Tuscany - U.S.
Morning transfer to the airport for our return flight home, taking
with us the memories of the best of Italy. “Arrivederci” - a nostalgic goodbye
with a promise to return.
